Imane “Pokimane” Anys is one of the most popular streamers in the world. She’s currently the top female streamer on Twitch with over 7.5 million followers and an average concurrent viewership of over 18,000 per stream. While her broadcasts are usually positive and bubbly, Pokimane has also been at the center of a lot of controversies and drama over the course of her streaming career.
Pokimane is currently 24 years old. Her birthday is May 14, 1996. She was born in Morocco and her parents moved to Canada soon after her birth. She grew up able to speak both English and French fluently. Pokimane has one brother.
Pokimane graduated from high school in 2005. She attended the University of McMaster in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada soon after. While there she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. Despite her college degree, Pokimane soon turned to streaming.
Pokimane started streaming in 2013. She became popular on Twitch rather quickly, breaking into the top 100 most-viewed streamers. In 2018 she won Best Streamer of the Year at The Shorty Awards.
Pokimane is a variety streamer who dabbles in all sorts of games as well as the Just Chatting section of Twitch. She is currently playing a lot of Valorant and Among Us, although she used to be known primarily for playing Fortnite and League of Legends. In the Just Streaming category, Pokimane is also known to do a bit of ASMR.
Despite not playing League of Legends of late, it’s still her top-most streamed game on Twitch. She has over 1,200 hours spent streaming the popular MOBA.
Pokimane has played a lot of ranked Valorant games and current has a Diamond ranking. But recently, a clip of Pokimane getting scared in Valorant and letting out a very loud scream went viral on social media. The silliness of the moment had some people saying that Pokimane wasn’t actually good at the game and was just carried by her teammates when she played. Pokimane took issue with that, responding to one such detractor on Twitter.
Pokimane is part of the OfflineTV group of content creators, consisting of Pokimane, Jeremy “DisguisedToast” Wang, William “Scarra” Li, Lily “LilyPichu” Ki, and Michael Reeves. Even though she is part of the group, Pokimane ended up leaving the OffliveTV house. She made a video around that time explaining that she “doesn’t fit in” living in Los Angeles, noting that many of her friends probably wouldn’t care about her anymore if she weren’t so famous.
Pokimane was recently accused of being “manipulative” by a former member of OfflineTV, Federic “Fedmyster” Gaitan. At the time, she claimed that she felt “forced” to share her side of the story since Fedmyster had previously claimed that Pokimane was responsible for the departure of a former member of the house, Yvonne “Yvonine” Ng.
Pokimane shared an abundance of screenshots, discussing in a TwitLonger that she was not in a relationship with Fedmyster, nor was she responsible for Yvonne “Yvonine” Ng leaving the OfflineTV house. Fedmyster had claimed Pokimane wanted Yvonnie gone because she wasn’t doing her job correctly, but Pokimane contended that was never the case. On top of that, Fedmyster had been accused of harassing Yvonnie during her time at the OfflineTV house.
Fedmyster isn’t the only boyfriend that Pokimane has been rumored to have. Content creator Cameron “Fitz” McKay made a joke that led to Pokimane having to call out people harassing her about allegedly dating Fitz. She noted that Fitz later apologized for making the joke that led to her being bullied and sexually harassed online.
i’ve received an insane amount of disgusting/sexual comments and speculation because of a joke Fitz made (which he later apologized for).
we never dated, but even if we did, NO ONE deserves to be sent this. pic.twitter.com/FZDA7cIE8o

In the past, Pokimane has stated that she likes to keep her personal life private. But that didn’t stop fans from speculating if she had a boyfriend or not. Many people accused her of pretending to be single in order to trick desperate men into donating to her. But Pokimane addressed these rumors in a YouTube video that she made during a month-long break from streaming.
Pokimane recently took part in a Twitter trend that revealed that she was most likely single and not looking to change that status any time soon.
Pokimane is estimated to have a net worth between $1 million and $2 million. Most of the money comes from Twitch donations, sponsorships, ad revenue, and subscriptions. It’s not entirely clear how much Pokimane makes on Twitch, but it’s undoubtedly a lot of money. She once revealed that she had turned down a sponsorship worth $3 million.
Pokimane also does a lot of donating. She recently donated to University of California’s esports program. Pokimane also donated towards a custom Among Us map. Pokimane was part of the Among Us streams with New York state representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that raised $200,000 for charity.
Pokimane recently capped her donations at $5, meaning no one is able to donate more than five bucks at a time to her stream.
A clip of Pokimane getting an $80 million started circulating around social media. It became so popular that Pokimane had to react to it. She informed everyone that the donation was definitely fake. But the clip became great meme fuel for the internet.
Pokimane took a few months off from Twitch in 2020. The streamer cited burnout at the time. On August 5, Pokimane explained that she was taking a break for the first time in six years of streaming due to a lack of motivation. She missed her family, attending conventions, traveling, and meeting fans in person.
During the break, Pokimane decided to make a video addressing some drama between her and other YouTubers. But she kept true to her plan of a 40-day absence from Twitch. When she returned, Pokimane received a warm welcome. She received 1,519 new subscriptions on September 11, the day of her first stream. Twitch Tracker also reported that Pokimane’s 15-hour return stream had almost 36,000 concurrent viewers at its peak.
Pokimane got in trouble with Twitch when she accidentally showed a pornographic pop-up during a live stream. Twitch sent Pokimane a warning email, which the streamer said she “deserved.” But for many in the streaming community, the warning wasn’t enough. Many other streamers, most of them men, have received bans ranging from three days to over a month for accidentally showing similarly sexually explicit clips.
Pokimane does not have a kid.
Back in 2018, Pokimane did an early morning stream to show fans her makeup routine. The stream was met with a lot of toxicity from the internet, with people barraged Pokimane with insults about her natural appearance. Many told her that she looked ugly or old without makeup. After the backlash, Pokimane took some photos without makeup.
“I’m at peace with myself, my body, and my imperfections. And I wish the same someday for anyone who feels the need to hate on someone else for such shallow reasons,” Pokimane said.
