Pokimane addresses dating rumors after Fitz relationship joke
Pokimane addresses dating rumors after Fitz relationship joke
Iman “Pokimane” Anys is once again at the receiving of trolling from social media users. A comment made by fellow streamer Cameron “Fitz” McKay regarding his relationship with Pokimane has resulted in a string of degrading comments directed towards Pokimane’s Twitter.
Drama always ends up finding renowned Twitch streamer Pokimane, whether she’s directly involved or not. This time, famous YouTuber and Twitch streamer Fitz made a joke, but it only added to the latest dramatics.
Pokimane has mentioned several times that she likes to keep her personal life
private and separate from her professional career as a streamer. However, the recent Federico “Fedmyster” Gaitan drama has led some people to believe that Pokimane is dating Fitz in private.
The talks started a
discussion on Reddit
where rumors about the streamer’s personal life were discussed. Fitz said that he found the thread amusing as they are not actually dating, and left a sarcastic, “ding ding ding, we have a winner,” comment. However, the joke didn’t sit well with the Redditors, resulting in hateful comments on Pokimane’s socials.
The Twitch streamer addressed the situation.
i’ve received an insane amount of disgusting/sexual comments and speculation because of a joke Fitz made (which he later apologized for).
we never dated, but even if we did, NO ONE deserves to be sent this.

Streamers come out in support of Pokimane
Pokimane received tons of support from other Twitch streamers. 100 Thieves Valkyrae typed a
wholesome comment, sending support to Pokimane amid the rancour. Fitz also responded to the backlash in a
Reddit thread
of his own. He took responsibility for making the joke and commented on the double standards of the community when it comes to the female streamers.
“It’s also disappointing, and in some ways funny, to witness first hand the double standard between how men are treated for being sexual in this industry as opposed to women. I received SO many tweets and comments calling me a ‘king’ or a ‘legend’, for effectively sleeping around – I wonder what names I would have been called if I was a woman?” Fitz asked.
Recently, Twitch streamer xQc also addressed
community attitude towards female streamers
and how their success can be minimized. The internet has always been more hostile to female streamers and their personal lives, and Pokimane is not the first streamer whose life has been subjected to such scrutiny and harassment.
