Valorant Mobile is officially happening. Credible sources at Liquipedia have confirmed that the game servers have been approved in China. Here’s what we know about the release date.

Valorant Mobile has long been in the making. Multiple leaks and in-game screenshots have been circulating online, indicating that the release was imminent. Riot Games has also confirmed that they are developing a handheld device version of the game. However, there have been no new updates until recently.

Taking to X, credible leaker hesketh2 announced that Valorant Mobile has been greenlit in China, which means it will get a global release date soon. The Mobile variant is called Valorant: Operation Primal, but it’s unknown whether it’s the final title for the game.

Closed beta testing for the mobile version reportedly began in August 2023, indicating that the game is in its final stages of development. If that ends up being true, then the Valorant release date can be in late 2024 or early 2025.

hesketh2 has also suggested that the game may have its own esports circuit and a separate Liquipedia page. All of this suggests that a global version should be announced soon.

But it’s also possible that Valorant Mobile will be released in China first, similar to the replay system. For those unaware, Valorant PC in China has a clipping-style replay system, which was available at launch. However, the hesketh2 says Riot may have delayed the global announcement to first ensure Valorant was approved in China, which has a sizeable playerbase.

This is to avoid the repeat of the Valorant PC release, which was launched years later in China due to approval issues. However, now that the Mobile variant is confirmed for China, it should mean that the game is closer than ever.

For now, not much is unknown about the game besides that it would be different from the PC variant and would include a better practice feature than the PC version. Players may actually be able to shoot bots on regular maps.

It will also have an agent exclusive MVP screen. The PC variant doesn’t necessarily celebrate the MVP, except by placing the MVP agent in the center of the full winning lineup. However, PC players like the mobile version more, and it’s reasonable.

These are just leaks and should be taken with a grain of salt. However, it’s safe to expect more leaks and reports regarding Valorant Mobile in the coming days.
