Dr Disrespect retire

Whether it’s drama with Twitch or bashing a popular game, Herschel “Dr Disrespect” Beahm IV has remained one of the most famous and infamous content creators in the streaming space. With millions of followers, it’s safe to say that Dr Disrespect is one of the biggest gaming YouTubers. But how did Beahm become The Two-Time and the popular streamer that he is today?

Dr Disrespect before the mustache

It’s hard to picture Dr Disrespect without his sunglasses and mullet, but he wasn’t always known for his over-the-top persona.

Born in 1982 in Encinitas, California, Dr Disrespect has kept a lot of his early life private. But he has acknowledged that he attended California State Polytechnic University where he played Division II NCAA basketball.

After college, The Doc joined Sledgehammer Games as a community manager. He was later promoted to level designer, helping to create maps in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. After three years at the development studio, Dr Disrespect retired from Sledgehammer Games to focus on his family and a burgeoning streaming career.

How old is Dr Disrespect?

Dr Disrespect is 40 years old, although it’s difficult for fans of the popular streamer to tell his age when he’s wearing his fake mustache, bullet-proof vest, and sunglasses.

How tall is Dr Disrespect?

Dr Disrespect is very tall. He is around 6′ 8″, towering above the majority of his streaming peers. Dr Disrespect played college basketball in his younger days, and his height makes that no surprise.

When did Dr Disrespect start streaming?

It was around 2010 when Dr Disrespect decided to start posting Call of Duty videos. About a year later, he began working for Sledgehammer Games and his content all but faded away. But in 2015, Dr Disrespect returned to content creation in a big way. He joined Justin.tv, the streaming platform that would later become Twitch.

Dr Disrespect quickly became a popular streamer on the platform, pulling in views for his FPS and battle royale gameplay as well as his over-the-top persona. Dr Disrespect became an arrogant and outspoken personality in the gaming space, not afraid to bash games and make blunt statements about others in the streaming world.

By 2017, Doc had a massive following and won the Streamer of the Year award at the Esports Awards. He became known as The Two-Time when he won the award again in 2019.

Why did Dr Disrespect stop streaming?

Shortly after winning his first Streamer of the Year award, Dr Disrespect announced that he was taking time off from streaming to focus on his family. The abrupt decision after his becoming so popular on Twitch left many fans feeling concerned for the private streamer.

It turned out that Dr Disrespect had cheated on his wife. While his wife’s identity is often thought of as a secret, fans have seen her accompanying him at a variety of events. The couple have a daughter together. The news that he had cheated on his wife was disappointing to many of Dr Disrespect’s fans, and clips of the streamer alluding to the ensuing drama went viral.

Why was Dr Disrespect banned from Twitch?

Dr Disrespect is one of the most popular streamers today. He was one of the biggest content creators on Twitch with over 3.7 million followers on his Twitch channel, earning him an exclusive deal with the platform in 2020. But that same year, Dr Disrespect was permanently banned from Twitch with no public explanation.

The Doc has had his fair share of drama throughout the years. This mostly includes arguments with fellow content creators, as well as the time he was kicked out of E3 for livestreaming from the bathroom. But none of this seemed like a big enough deal to warrant the sudden permanent ban.

The Two-Time claimed he had no clue why he was banned from Twitch, but many suspected it was something very serious. Dr Disrespect threatened legal action against Twitch for not only disrupting his career but also ruining his reputation.

“The relationships we’ve built over the past five years with EA, Activision…the blacklisting, the shadowbanning…it’s happening. We are doing well enough. But I’ll tell you, it’s been disheartening. A rollercoaster of emotion. It absolutely f—— sucks,” Dr Disrespect said at the time.

The lawsuit was eventually resolved, but Dr Disrespect has remained on YouTube ever since.

What is Midnight Society?

Ever since the switch to YouTube, Dr Disrespect has announced a variety of new projects. One of the bigger ones is a game studio focused on community engagement and fan interaction.

The site reads: “At Midnight Society, we flip the traditional game dev process on its head — tapping a passionate Day Zero Community to inform our decisions on key features. For decades, game developers have toiled in an environment closed off from its audience, then shipped their labors of love on a hope and a prayer. Players and developers deserve better.”

While there has been some backlash against Midnight Society for including NFTs in the promotion of its first proposed game, the majority of Dr Disrespect’s fans remain excited to see what his first game will look and feel like, and many are eager to be a part of it.
