Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo has become known for his generosity and charity streams. But how did DrLupo grow so big as a streamer on Twitch?
DrLupo has been streaming since 2013. He began as a Destiny streamer on Twitch. He signed a new deal with the big streaming platform in 2019 and can now usually be found playing Fortnite or Escape From Tarkov. DrLupo currently has over 4.6 million followers on Twitch, making him one of the biggest streamers on the platform.
DrLupo also is a successful content creator on YouTube where he has 1.87 million subscribers. He will often host charity streams and gaming streams on YouTube as well. His last charity stream had over 92,000 concurrent live viewers and raised money for St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

DrLupo was born on March 20, 1987, making him 35 years old today. He currently lives in Omaha, Nebraska, where he also lived before he started streaming and found success on Twitch. This separates DrLupo from many acclaimed streamers who have chosen to move to popular cities like Los Angeles and Austin.
Before becoming a streamer, DrLupo was a systems engineer for an insurance firm in Omaha, “in the basement of a 13th-floor building coding in javascript,” according to a statement given by DrLupo during a Red Bull interview.
DrLupo is around 6 feet tall meaning, he’s not quite as tall as Dr Disrespect, but he’s still taller than the average person.
DrLupo is not actually a doctor. The “Dr” in front of his name is part of a long-time joke he’s had with his friends from college. DrLupo’s late father was a psychology professor at the same college, so his friends were familiar with him as well. They decided it would be funny for Lupo to put “Dr” in front of his name so they could joke that they were playing with his dad in Halo.
While the name started as a running gag, DrLupo said that the name actually means a lot to him. It’s now a tribute to his father and a way for DrLupo’s name to be remembered and frequently mentioned.
DrLupo is married to a woman named Samantha. They were married back in 2010 and now have a son named Charlie. DrLupo’s wife Samantha has appeared in some of DrLupo’s live streams and recorded videos, sometimes attempting to take on various challenges with him.
DrLupo was banned from Twitch on May 15, 2022. An official statement from Twitch stated that the ban was due to “unwanted sexual advances.” Did this mean that DrLupo was cheating on his wife? Not exactly.
DrLupo tweeted about the ban to his millions of fans, noting the ban was for seven days and explaining the reasoning behind it.
DrLupo apparently went to Tyler “Ninja” Blevin’s stream and wrote “sit on my face” as a joke in Ninja’s chat. Following the Twitch suspension, DrLupo joked that there would be “no more face sitting for [him].”
Ninja and DrLupo met while playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, competing against one another. DrLupo won and Ninja expressed how impressed by DrLupo’s skills. The two have remained friends since, continuing to stream games together and sometimes appearing in each other’s videos.
