The next Dota 2 battle pass is likely coming in the very near future.

UPDATE: The next Dota 2 battle pass has arrived. Read all about it.

Valve has been repeatedly updating Dota 2 test servers, which is often a precursor to large updates being shipped. This has generally been a standard practice with Valve, with these testing areas being used to trial new content in both Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

This follows a November blog post from Valve stating that a new battle pass was due out in “the next few weeks.” All of this combines to suggest that a new Dota 2 battle pass is set to arrive in the immediate future.

Given the fact that Christmas is approaching and that Valve traditionally likes to drop new content on Tuesdays, this could mean that the next Dota 2 battle pass will land on either December 14 or 21. Valve is yet to confirm a release date and the company doesn’t exclusively drop updates on Tuesdays, so it’s possible that the battle pass could appear at any time.

Dota 2 fans ought to be hopeful regarding a fresh injection of new content in the immediate future. The big question is whether this new battle pass will resurrect past events like Frostivus or if it will be something original.

What is in the new Dota 2 battle pass?

The centerpiece of the next Dota 2 battle pass will likely be a Mirana hero persona and a Drow Ranger arcana.

Video games often leak big content updates through data mined hidden content, and Dota 2 is no different. There have been two big leaks in Dota 2 that revealed what content to look forward to in the next battle pass.

First, an image sheet that contains all Dota 2 minimap icons was updated in September to include three new silhouetted icons. Two are identical, while the other is clearly meant to be a reimagining of Mirana. Though a fresh new model for the hero is possible, it’s more likely that it’s a hero persona based on her DOTA: Dragon’s Blood appearance similar to Nemestice’s Davion of Dragon Hold skin for Dragon Knight.

More recently, a data mine of the update that added a Fantasy Challenge for the 2022 Dota Pro Circuit season uncovered some hidden code. The code makes reference to an upgradeable Drow Ranger arcana similar to the ones seen for Earthshaker, Queen of Pain, and Spectre, effectively confirming that an arcana for one of Dota 2 players’ favorite heroes is incoming.

If Nemestice is the foundation for this new battle pass, that means there should be another big skin set to launch alongside a limited-time game mode, though it’s uncertain what it might be.
