The Overwatch 2 PvE content is finally here and while there are a lot of complaints revolving around Blizzard’s handling of PvE, it may be more challenging and replayable than originally expected.

The Overwatch community was outraged when Blizzard announced that the extensive PvE content they originally promised was no longer happening. To help soothe the angry mob of gamers, Blizzard promised that PvE story missions would be coming in Invasion — for a price.

Early testing of the PvE story missions was not positive, with content creators claiming it was too easy and wasn’t worth the money since nobody would replay it. But it’s possible these playtesters were just haters, according to data revealed by Aaron Keller.

Story missions on Legendary are actually hard

When Season 6 came out, streamers started playing the game’s PvE story missions to complete challenges and explore the solo content. A lot of content creators also focused on Legendary difficulty, and it looks like it’s a bit more of a challenge than originally believed.

Keller recently shared a Dev Take blog post that showed some stats behind the story missions.

According to Keller, the missions on Legendary are “super hard.”

He continued: “Most people can’t complete them at this difficulty, and those that did had to devise custom strategies and team comps to get past the hardest encounters. If you’re a content creator who completed Legendary and you’re reading this post, pat yourself on the back. You were great entertainment! … We feel like we learned something with the level of difficulty and are excited to apply and expand on it for future Co-op content.”

Because of how hard it’s been to complete, Keller shared that the success rates have been surprisingly low.

  • Gothenburg on Legendary – 1.6% success rate
  • Toronto on Legendary – 0.7% success rate

The story missions were even harder to complete due to some bugs, unfortunately. But there’s no denying that you’ll have to try Legendary mode more than once if you want to beat it.
