Understanding the Ke Ke Ke Grunt’s team

The Ke Ke Ke Grunt rotates through a pool of Ghost-type Pokémon, and her lineup changes periodically. In October 2024, players will face a combination of Misdreavus, Drifloon, Golett, Dusclops, Sableye, Froslass, Gengar, and Alolan Marowak. Each of these Pokémon has unique weaknesses, so it’s important to tailor your team for maximum effectiveness.

Firstly, the Ke Ke Ke Grunt can be simply taken down by Ghost-types, but that requires a lot of luck. Ghost-type counters can be risky, as they may also take heavy damage from the Grunt’s Ghost-type attacks.   • Since it is a Ghost-type Pokemon, it is weak to Dark and Ghost-type attacks

• Drifloon
  • Since it is a dual-type Ghost/Flying Pokemon, it is weak to Dark, Ghost, Electric, Ice, and Rock-type moves.
  • Pokemon such as Zekrom Thundurus, or Darkrai are optimal choices for this.
• Golett
  • This dual-type Ghost/Ground Pokemon will be weak to Dark, Grass, Water, and Ice-type moves.
  • Pokemon such as Kartana, Kyogre, or Galarian Darmanitan can deal significant damage.

Wave 2 – Dusclops, Sableye, and Golett

In the second wave, apart from Golett, the other two possibilities are replaced. The other two Pokemon and their guide suggested strategies are as follows:

• Dusclops
  • This is a Ghost Pokemon, which means Darkrai or Hydreigon will take it down quickly
• Sableye
  • This dual-type Ghost/Dark Pokemon is only weak to Fairy and Dark-type moves. As such, Zoroark or Houndoom are solid choices for versatility.

Wave 3 – Forslass, Gengar, and Alolan Marowak

The is the final wave of Team Rocket’s Ke Ke Ke Grunt. Consisting of different Pokemon than the first two waves complete. The 3 different Pokemon and their guide suggested strategies are as follows:

• Froslass
  • This dual-type Ghost/Ice Pokemon is weak to Rock, Steel, Fire, Dark, and Ghost-type attacks. Metagross, Reshiram, or Rampardos are excellent counters.
• Gengar
  • Since it is a weaker dual-type Ghost/Poison Pokemon, it is weak to Dark, Psychic, Ground, and Ghost-type moves.
  • Landorus, Zorark, or Darkrai will handle it effectively.
• Alolan Marowak
  • A Ghost/Fire-type Pokemon, with its weaknesses being Dark, Water, rock, and Ground-type moves.
  • Use Kyogre, Rampardos, or Dakrai for a quick win.

Tips – Rewards for Defeating the Ke Ke Ke Grunt

Defeating the Ke Ke Ke Grunt is no easy task. However, it is doable for many that understand its weak points. Those who have played it previously, suggest players focus on Dark-type Pokemon. Being that Ghost-types are vulnerable to Dark-type moves, and Dark-type resisting Ghost-type, this is the safest strategy. Secondly, if your team isn’t working out, you can exit the battle, adjust your lineup, and re-enter without penalties. As such, do not hesitate to switch Pokemon if necessary. Additionally, ensure your Pokemon are using moves that match their own type for increase damage. For an easier playthrough Utilize STAB (Same-Type Attack Bonus) whenever possible.

Finally, after defeating the Ke Ke Ke Grunt, players rewards are as follows:

• 500 Stardust
• An encounter with a Shadow Pokemon from the Grunt’s first wave (Misdreavus, Drifloon, or Golette)
• A Shadow Shard that can be combined Purified Gem to aid in Shadow Raids
• A Mysterious Component, which can be used to assemble Rocket Radar for battling Team Rocket Leaders.
