Fortnite players are getting free skins, but why?

Fortnite players are confused after receiving free skins and V-Bucks seemingly out of nowhere.

A lot of Fortnite players have taken to Reddit and social media to report that they’ve suddenly received old skins and V-Bucks. One lucky player even shared that they received a skin that’s no longer available despite never having completed the challenges — or even playing the game at that time.

Despite them feeling a bit confused by this, others were wondering if it really was such a bad thing to get free skins.

Other players noted that they also received the same skin for free. Others showed off free V-Bucks that suddenly appeared. Some wondered if it was because Epic had given away a free music track that the lucky player already owned. Some just joked that it was for their “hard work.”

Multiple players getting a once-retired skin for free from Epic seemed quite peculiar but this isn’t the first time it’s been done. Something similar happened in Chapter 5 Season 3. At that time, a lot of players noted that they got free skins just by logging into the game.

While getting free stuff at random is definitely not something to complain about, the Fortnite community did wonder why Epic was not better at communicating, even if it’s for something positive. If the reward is for something, players want to know so they can get it too!
