Everything we know about Samoa, new OW2 Control map
Control is getting a new map in Overwatch 2 Season 7.
In an attempt to shake up gameplay, Overwatch 2 added Push and Flashpoint modes to the competitive side of the lore-rich FPS. Now, Blizzard is turning its attention to a classic mode, Control, in Season 7.
Here’s what we know so far about Samoa.
Samoa is the newest Control map in OW2
Samoa has three different maps that are vastly different, although all of them are tropical and vibrant. But only time will tell if the new map will make up for the lackluster PvE content.
The first point is Beach, an oceanfront map where players can make their way through huts and other beachside buildings to make their way to a sunken control point.
The second point is Downtown, bringing heroes around a much more crowded area with narrow streets and tight buildings.
The final point is Volcano, which features a lava pit around the control point. It’s an open map that will have players fighting from afar as well as finding creative ways to boop enemies into the lava.
When is Overwatch 2 Season 7?
Overwatch 2 Season 7 is coming on October 10, 2023. This is when the new map, Samoa, will drop.
Meanwhile, players are wondering if Samoa is a hint at the hero coming in Season 8. Many have speculated about a hero named Mauga and this map seems to only strengthen the rumors.
