xQc has thoughts on Valorant, and he's not a fan of its abilities

Not long ago, Felix “xQc” Lengyel stated that Valorant was more a game for Overwatch players rather than Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players due to the agents’ abilities. But now, the former Overwatch pro has some early complaints about Riot’s new FPS title due to those very abilities.

Players will have access to the Valorant closed beta in a few days, but streamers like xQc have already gotten their hands on the game. While playing Overwatch during their April Fools event, xQc told his followers that he’s not sure how much he can reveal about Valorant. But that didn’t stop him from sharing some opinions on the game’s use of abilities.

“I don’t want to be negative. I shit on games as much as I worship them,” xQc began. “I don’t know if some abilities are good overall. I don’t enjoy them because of my own personal opinion.”

The abilities become even more frustrating, xQc explained, when you’re attempting to retake a site after a spike has been planted. Unlike in Counter-Strike, he said, Valorant agents have access to a lot of abilities that make this near impossible.

“It’s fucking annoying dude,” xQc said. “In CS, you rarely have a wall that has 3,000 HP, two lines of Viper shit, glowing fire, and flying people. There’s none of that in CS.”

This is an interesting early take on the game for xQc, who previously went on a rant about how “washed up CSGO pros” looking to become top players in Valorant wouldn’t be able to adapt to the new game’s abilities. Instead, xQc felt that Overwatch players would be the dominant gamers during the beta, thanks to their past experience with combining ultimates and creating strategies based on abilities.

“Hot take: All the washed up CSGO ‘pros’ will try to go pro in Valorant like they did in Overwatch, then complain about rez, shields, and that the game revolves around more than simply shooting a gun and then ultimately quit,” he tweeted

Now it seems like xQc himself is feeling similarly to those retired CSGO players he once mocked. It appears that he also is having issues adapting to the game’s abilities, which he feels are not meant for a game so heavily inspired by CSGO’s maps and format.

Streamers and esports pros share opinions on Valorant

xQc isn’t the only one to get early access to Valorant’s closed beta, although he seems to be alone in his negative opinion of the game.

Streamer Jack “CouRage” Dunlop tweeted that the game is a “total blast” after playing it all weekend.

“I played Valorant all weekend and I gotta say, I had a ton of fun. Excited for the future of this game,” echoed 100 Thieves founder Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag on Twitter

TSM streamer Gale Adelade called Valorant the “most sick game ever.” The self-proclaimed Phoenix main has even put “Valorant streamer” in his Twitter bio already. Overwatch pro Brian “Kephrii” St. Pierre has already decided on Jett himself.

Jett was the latest agent revealed by Riot Games. Developers have also shared how you can get a closed beta key yourself and make up your own mind about the game.

Are the abilities frustrating to deal with, like xQc said? Or are they a fun alternative to the abilities you’re used to in Overwatch
