The streaming world’s golden boy, Félix “xQc” Lengyel, eventually became a familiar name for a broader audience in 2023. But what is his real name, and why does he have an accent?

A large chunk of xQc’s personal and professional life is available online. Still, his recent drama with ex-girlfriend Adept and Sidemen charity match appearance has caught the interest of a new audience interested in knowing more about the former Twitch star. Among many things, xQc’s notable accent has fans wondering about his origin and real name.

What’s xQc’s real name?

xQc’s real name is Felix Lengyl. He started his career as a professional Overwatch player, gaining popularity as xQcOW. However, as he distanced himself from esports, he became a Twitch household name as just xQc.

He was born in Laval, Quebec, Canada, in 1995, so he grew up speaking both French and English. Regarding descent, xQc is French Canadian, which, according to him, is not the same as French people born in France. He also called himself a Fake French at one point.

Where’s xQc’s accent from?

xQc’s blend of French and Canadian influences has probably given him a distinctive accent adored by his fans. But it’s not just his heritage that’s behind a strong accent; xQc just speaks too fast. This combination of his accent and quick speech can occasionally make him a bit hard to follow, a point even xQc acknowledges.

“I don’t know what he’s saying. I don’t know how anybody can sit here and actually f–king watch this and listen to this sh-t.” He said after watching one of his videos.

So, his Canadian French lineage has little to do with his strong accent. It’s mostly his speed that makes him a little difficult to understand for the new viewers. Old-timers, however, love xQc’s rants and reactions where his accent truly shines.
