Top female streamer Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter is sticking with YouTube for another two years.
Valkyrae joined
YouTube
in 2020 and has spent the last two years enjoying her time on the Google-owned website. On January 31, Valkyrae confirmed that she will be extending her contract to January 2024.
Valkyrae didn’t dive into the details of the contract extension. The original contract included a minimum number of hours streamed on YouTube Gaming. This led to a dilemma at the end of last year when Valkyrae realized she had a whopping 198 hours left to stream on December 4, giving her a month to grind.
“What do I stream? Who wants to play? What to grind? Anything, I’m desperate!” Valkyrae screamed on Twitter.
Despite the month-long grind, Valkyrae has consistently stated that
she loves being a part of YouTube Gaming. According to Valkyrae, her concepts are often heard and implemented by the YouTube team, making her feel valued and important.
“YouTube wants to treat me well and work with me. That was one of the biggest reasons why I was very happy to move from Twitch to YouTube, because the people behind the scenes made it very clear that they value my opinions,” Valkyrae said late last year.
Valkyrae will continue streaming on YouTube Gaming until 2024
Valkyrae will continue being a leading figure on YouTube Gaming until 2024. She showed some behind-the-scenes footage from the announcement on YouTube.
Right at the start of the video, Valkyrae made it clear that she wasn’t even considering any other platforms, including Twitch.
“I think it’s exciting. A lot of people think I’m going to Facebook, which is surprising,” Valkyrae added.
From there, Valkyrae showed off the often-hilarious process behind creating a video announcement like this, including slapping cups out of people’s hands and getting covered in food.

Valkyrae currently has over 3.6 million subscribers on YouTube. Most of her streams get an average of 20,000 viewers. This resulted in over 30.6 million streaming hours watched by the end of 2021. This has made Valkyrae the top female streamer on the platform and the second-largest female streamer ever, coming in second behind Amouranth.
While Valkyrae has stated that YouTube has some room to grow when it comes to streaming, she has noted that the platform is “hungry” and always looking to improve.
