Riot has announced that Caitlyn will be receiving a full visual update to bring her up to date with the League of Legends’ modern design philosophies. With new animated series Arcane releasing in a week from today, Riot has confirmed the rumors of Caitlyn’s in-game model getting a rework with a new video highlighting a brand new theme and tons of concept art for her various skins.
Caitlyn is one of League of Legends’ oldest champions. Her abilities have aged well, but her in-game model has not. Caitlyn’s purple and gold outfit does a poor job of matching Riot’s modern aesthetic for Piltover. With her featuring in Riot Games’ upcoming flagship animated series Arcane, Riot has decided to make sure that Caitlyn’s in-game depiction more closely matches her debut on Netflix.
Caitlyn, The Sheriff of Piltover | Champion Theme – League of Legends
In the champion theme video released, Caitlyn’s new theme features dramatic strings that evoke the soaring heights of Piltover’s spires. Throughout the video, Caitlyn’s new look is highlighted across all of her skins. From High Noon to Arcade, the Piltovan sniper is getting some graphical love ahead of her highlighting in Arcane. The rework is clearly invoking the new look Caitlyn has been slowly granted in other properties including Legends of Runeterra and Wild Rift.
Here’s the first look at all of the biggest changes to Caitlyn’s skins and splash arts.
We haven’t yet seen any of the newly-revamped skins in action in-game, but this visual rework can be expected to hit sooner rather than later given that Arcane releases on November 6. Those looking to check out Piltover’s deadliest sniper’s new look will be able to catch it on Netflix, as Caitlyn’s mysterious origin story is told.
