The International 2020 Battle Pass might be launching very soon

With a big question mark on The International 2020, fans wonder if Valve will continue to release the T10 Battle pass as expected.

There is an interesting pattern of the Battle Pass release date from the previous iterations of The International. A Dota 2 enthusiast pointed out on Reddit that Valve released the Battle Pass five days before the deadline of workshop submissions.

Valve released The International 2020 Call to Arms announcement in mid-February. It did not hint any possible theme for TI10 and gave artists free rein to work on their designs.

The deadline for the submissions is on April 27, 2020. TI8 and TI9 Battle Passes were both released five days before the deadline. If Valve follows this pattern, the TI10 Battle Pass will most likely be released this week.

Battle Passes were also released a few days after the major. ESL One Los Angeles has ended and fans were eager to know Valve’s plan for TI10.

If TI10 will continue to take place in August, Valve might release the Battle Pass on time. Sweden has an ongoing travel ban and this can lead to postponement. The same situation happened with ESL One Los Angeles Major that was initially postponed but later transitioned to an online league without a major status.

If Valve decided to postpone TI10 to a later date, releasing the TI10 Battle Pass early will mean more time for crowdfunding the TI10 prize pool.

Indeed, Valve has to make a decision sooner than later.

COVID-19 pandemic has a huge impact on esports event including TI10

The coronavirus pandemic has created a new normal and the esports industry is no exemption to this huge change. The esports calendar was put on halt but fortunately, tournament organizers have alternatives.

Huge events that were set to happen with the live audience took place in an empty arena. The International 2020 is the biggest esports tournament of the year and it marks the 10th year anniversary of the event.

It was supposed to be a grand esports gathering with millions of Dota 2 fans around the world. With the current COVID-19 situation, a big question mark hangs over the future of the event.

Famous caster Toby “TobiWan” Dawson asked fans if they think TI10 will happen in August. The results were close although the majority of the fans answered that it should take place in August without the live audience.

Every day I have woken up and had so many choices of @DOTA2 games to watch! Online tournaments are so enjoyable during this quarantine.

Do you still think though that The International 10 is still possible in August?

Fans also saw the shift from live events to online tournaments. Regional leagues are currently dominating the scene and numerous events are overlapping each other.

With the Dota Pro Circuit still on pause, Valve is yet to figure out a new and fair way to determine TI10’s direct invitees.
