The wait for the 2021 World Championship skins is finally over. The five skins celebrating EDward Gaming’s win have officially hit the Public Beta Environment (PBE).

Like the previous winners of the Summoner’s Cup, EDG has gotten its own skin line in League of Legends. Each player has been able to choose the champion that receives their own skin, which in this round includes Graves, Viego, Zoe, Aphelios, and Yuumi. Each skin will have a connection to the respective EDG player and will soon be available for everyone to purchase on the live servers.

This year’s champions are generally fairly new to the game with the exception of Graves. This doesn’t only reflect a new era of champions in the game but also the meta that was practiced at the World Championship back in October last year.

As the preview states, each new cosmetic will be presented in smooth blue and white colors. The colors themselves give each champion a very stylish look that is world champion-worthy. Furthermore, each skin has new special effects that are tied to EDG and will stand out on Summoner’s Rift when worn.

EDG Worlds skins contain several easter eggs

With this preview, many fans have been keeping an eye on each skin’s unique recall animation. In several of these, Riot has placed fun small easter eggs that each tells a story. One of the first to be discovered is on Graves, where he picks up Lucian’s gun at the start of his recall animation. This is a reference to EDG top laner Li “Flandre” Xuan-Jun, who is known for his Lucian in solo queue.

Another easter egg is Viego’s recall animation. In a quick glimpse, the recall shows “WLLWW,” referencing the order of wins and losses for EDG in the Worlds final. This easter egg adds a little extra flair to the five-game thriller against DWG KIA that will stay in the history books forever.

When the five skins hit the live servers, it will be alongside chromas for all of them. The chromas will change the color of each skin to a royal red, which will make them stand out a bit more.

The EDG Worlds skins are currently available for testing on the PBE and are expected to hit the live servers with patch 12.9 on May 11.
