Riot Games has been shoveling coal into the hype train for its upcoming animated series Arcane. As a part of these efforts, a thematic live experience has been unveiled for fans in Los Angeles, California.
Riot is teaming up with Secret Cinema to bring Arcane to life for Californian viewers. The experience appears to be themed around the undercity of Zaun, and leans into the escalating class conflict between it and Piltover. Those who can’t make it in person will be able to catch a live stream on each night.
Importantly, this Secret Cinema Arcane event does not appear to be a live viewing. The event intends to focus more on a lived-in experience showing the inside of Zaun, giving attendees the chance to dip their toes into the world of Runeterra. The event’s promotional material specifically mentions secret hideouts, bustling bars, and daring raids. Rather than just a decorated theatre with well-costumed actors, Secret Cinema is aiming for an immersive storytelling experience.
The experience will cost attendees $77.17 USD including all fees, and attending guests must be above 16 years of age while also providing proof of vaccination. Secret Cinema outlines the requirements for attendees on its event announcement page.
For those unfamiliar, Secret Cinema is a live production company that focuses on immersive experiences, often crossing over with well-known intellectual properties. Riot Games is the latest company to try and make its world jump off the screen and into a live venue for fans.
The Arcane event will run for approximately two hours from start to finish, and Secret Cinema implies that it will track Piltover and the undercity through time. It begins as the city is found during Episode 1 of Arcane, but change is clearly set to unfold over the two scheduled hours.
The event opens on November 12, 2021.
