Arcane | Official Trailer | Netflix
Arcane will cover the origin stories of many iconic champions from the twin cities of Piltover and Zaun, with a special focus on League’s long-rumored siblings Vi and Jinx. The trailer begins with Vi recounting tales of her childhood with Jinx, before the latter is kidnapped by a grim-faced villain with a distinctive orange eye. This character will almost certainly serve as the series’ main antagonist.
The wealth disparity and growing class animus between Zaun and Piltover, one of the region’s central themes, appears to be a key focus of the series. The lower city of Zaun has a gritty cyberpunk look of neon lights on a dark background, while Piltover is meant to be more regal with golds and silvers. As the trailer continues, a young Jayce and Viktor make a breakthrough in using magic through the scientific process. Heimerdinger even makes an appearance to chastise Jayce with a cameo by Caitlyn later on.
The Arcane trailer highlights the gorgeous animation that fans have come to expect from League of Legends and looks to have the strong narrative that LoL fans have long clamored for. With the political intrigue of Piltover being pitted against Zaun, and many mysteries of champions’ origins set to be solved, Arcane promises to be a top-notch romp through Runeterra.
Arcane is set to launch on the day that the 2021 World Championship, League of Legends’ largest esports event, concludes in Iceland.
It will release on Netflix over a staggered release, with new episodes on Nov 6, 13 and 20.
