Fans were given their first glimpse at the Scott Pilgrim anime earlier this week.
An anime adaptation of the highly stylized cult classic Scott Pilgrim is coming to Netflix later this year. The first trailer just dropped, showing off its unique animation and potential storyline.
Here’s what we know so far about Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will follow the plight of Scott Pilgrim as he battles Ramona Flowers’ seven exes.
The full plot is not yet known, but the trailer has a lot of very familiar themes, including video game sound effects, original rock music, and over-the-top fighting scenes.

It will most likely be following the graphic novel very closely, similarly to the 2010 movie. But fans noticed that some storylines highlighted in the trailer were arcs from the graphic novel series that were left out of the movie, including a bigger focus on Scott’s ex-girlfriend Envy Adams.
The anime was first revealed back in January and it came with the exciting news that the original cast from the live-action Scott Pilgrim would be also starring as the voices in the anime.
This means that Michael Cera will be playing Scott Pilgrim again. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans, and more familiar stars will also be returning.
The film’s director, Edgar Wright, will also be the executive producer of the anime, helping to keep it authentic to the source material.
“Every time I’ve recorded it,” Cera said in a recent interview, “I have to send an email saying, ‘I love this so much. I’m so excited about it.’”
The Netflix original will be streaming on November 17, 2023.
