The best reveals from PlayStation State of Play February 2023

The first PlayStation State of Play of this year revealed a lot of exciting updates on highly anticipated games coming to the Sony console. From VR games to Street Fighter 6 reveals to Suicide Squad gameplay, the State of Play was packed with worthwhile information that is sure to fill up the entirety of 2023.

Here are some of the highlights from the latest PlayStation State of Play on February 23, 2023.

PlayStation VR2

There were actually five games announced for the PS VR2. All of them had trailers during the latest State of Play, showing off the VR2’s impressive capabilities. The following titles were shown off at the event.

Destiny 2: Lightfall trailer

Destiny 2 has continued to be a popular game thanks to ongoing DLC and an ever-expanding complex storyline. The newest trailer showed off what fans can expect when Lightfall drops later this month. The launch trailer had fans feeling emotional and anxious about the DLC, especially from seeing the Ghost and Guardian sliced apart.

Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections announcement

Get ready for the largest roster in the Naruto fighting game series. Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections will include 124 ninjas from Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4: Road to Boruto as well as newcomers Ashura Otsuki and Indra Otsuki! Fans of the classic anime will see Naruto and Sasuke’s rivalry continue and feel the power of friendship like never before.

Baldur’s Gate 3 PlayStation release date reveal

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a long time coming. First announced in 2019, it’s the sequel to the classic RPG that was released back in the 90s. Now Baldur’s Gate 3 finally has a release date in August 31, 2023. The PlayStation 5 game will utilize all the graphic capabilities of the next-gen console to bring this detailed fantasy world to life.

New Street Fighter 6 characters revealed

Street Fighter 6 has been on everyone’s mind, especially after it was revealed at the Capcom Cup Finals that next season’s tournament series would feature a $2 million prize pool. During the State of Play, three new characters were confirmed for the ever-growing roster.

  • Lily
  • Zangrief

Lily appears to call on nature, specifically the wind, to power her moveset. But the biggest excitement for the community was Cammy and her redesign. There were a lot of updates to her design, but she still had the same overall style and personality that made her a fighting game icon. Some fans also noticed that she was given the assassination move from the 90s Street Fighter animated movie.

Resident Evil 4 new trailer reveal

Fans got another look at the Resident Evil 4 remake during the State of Play. The classic gameplay is back, but the graphics have been heavily improved for the next-gen console. Fans have been anxiously awaiting the classic horror game, which is next month.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League gameplay

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been delayed a few times and comic book fans have been growing impatient. The last two trailers were promising, and now the State of Play has dived into the gameplay. The story starts five years after the end of Arkham Knight and is told from the villains’ point of views. The gameplay showed a lot of exciting and unique abilities each villain has, from grappling to a jetpack to tons of weapons. Other DC villains will also make an appearance in the game. Fans are excited about the interesting storyline and unique movement of the gameplay.
