YouTuber Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg and his wife Marzia Bisognin are expecting their first child.

PewDiePie’s family has continued to grow in recent years. The couple recently announced that they added a puppy to the clan. And now, Bisognin is pregnant.

In pure YouTuber fashion, PewDiePie announced the pregnancy in a YouTube video. The short video was called “We’re having a baby” and was posted early on February 5, 2023. Unlike some of his meme-filled content, this video had a very wholesome and sweet tone as PewDiePie shared his excitement.

PewDiePie is going to be a dad

In the announcement video, PewDiePie told his 111 million subscribers that he had been hiding some exciting news from them: Marzia is pregnant.

PewDiePie found out at the beginning of November 2022 and said that it’s been going smoothly so far. Marzia has been feeling sick here and there but both of them are excited to enter this “new territory.” PewDiePie said he “feels ready.”

“I feel so lucky to start a family with the woman I love and I know whatever is ahead of us, we can do it,” PewDiePie said. “I was really fortunate to have good parents growing up so I want to pass on what they gave to me. Marzia the is loving and caring person I know so I have absolutely no doubt she will be an amazing mother.”

When did PewDiePie get married?

The story of how PewDiePie and Marzia met is a funny one. A friend told her about his YouTube channel and she ended up emailing PewDiePie to tell him that she found his videos funny. The two became official in late 2011, which is now 12 years ago (tough to think about!). That year, Marzia moved to Sweden to live with him.

As PewDiePie continued to become more and more famous, Marzia found herself in the spotlight as well. And she didn’t like it. In a now-private video, she announced to her following that she was quitting her life as a vlogger since it had started to feel like she was “cut off from the world.”

PewDiePie proposed to Marzia while they were on a trip in Japan. The engagement ring was said to be worth between $91,000 and $122,000. During that time, PewDiePie made a YouTube video all about his “future wifey.”

The two got married eight years after the first day they met, on August 19, 2019. Marzia wrote on Instagram about the marriage, saying it was a beautiful day she will “treasure forever” and adding that she was “incredibly ecstatic” to call PewDiePie her husband forever. The wedding cost around $140,000 and was held at Kew Gardens in London.

Since the wedding, PewDiePie and Marzia took a lot of time traveling together. But they ultimately ended up moving to Japan, where they’d purchased a home.

Why did PewDiePie retire from YouTube?

PewDiePie never fully quit making YouTube videos. He’s continued to be one of the most popular individuals on the platform.

When he first announced he was quitting, PewDiePie didn’t mean that he was leaving the platform entirely. Instead, he didn’t want to feel obligated to create consistent content daily. He wanted to focus on what’s fun about YouTube. For PewDiePie, this meant vlogs with his wife and about his life rather than reacting to games and internet memes all the time.

“I look back on everything we’ve done and I’m super proud of it and it’s amazing. But I’m ready for new experiences and different things,” PewDiePie said.

Fans are happy that PewDiePie hasn’t disappeared from YouTube and has instead used it as a way to give updates about his life. The news that he’s going to be a dad has left fans emotional. Many people have been following him since he started uploading in 2010 so it’s exciting to see him have such an impactful milestone.
