PewDiePie has been suddenly banned from Twitch
PewDiePie has been suddenly banned from Twitch
Famous YouTuber Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg has been banned on Twitch despite not even streaming.
On May 8, PewDiePie was suddenly banned from Twitch, and his fans are quite confused. PewDiePie “retired” from YouTube years ago, no longer posting daily meme and gaming content. Instead, he will share updates on his family life once in a while, including his
new puppy
and
pregnancy. Over on Twitch, PewDiePie isn’t even a streamer.
So why was he banned?
What happened to PewDiePie’s Twitch channel?
On March 21, it appeared as if PewDiePie had returned to Twitch. But fans soon speculated that his account had been banned as the channel continuously streamed old PewDiePie videos and full episodes of television shows. There was no live content of PewDiePie streaming himself.
It was soon revealed that CoPilotMedia had taken over PewDiePie’s channel and was using it to recycle the YouTube star’s old content.
Now, however, PewDiePie’s channel is gone altogether. But without PewDiePie even streaming, why was he suspended?
Fans are speculating that it was due to a video shared years ago where PewDiePie said a racial slur while attempting to shoot an enemy on a bridge in PUBG. It has since been dubbed the “bridge incident.” Since PewDiePie’s Twitch stream is just continuously looping old footage, it’s bound to show something against the streaming platform’s Terms of Service at some point — including the bridge incident.
Meanwhile, PewDiePie is likely unbothered by his Twitch channel being suspended. The father-to-be hasn’t been as dedicated to content creation the past few years and has instead been enjoying his family life in Japan.
