Percy Jackson and The Olympians is an upcoming Disney+ TV show based on the book series of the same name by Rick Riordan. Recently, Disney+ surprised long-time fans with a 2023 release date.

Percy Jackson and The Olympians is one of the most anticipated adaptations of the year. The show is based on the series of books that follow Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old boy from New York City, after discovers he is the son of Poseidon. Upon discovering his identity as a demigod, Percy embarks on a quest to find Zeus’ lightning bolt. Percy is accompanied by Annabeth Chase, a daughter of Athena, and Grover Underwood, a satyr.

Walker Scobell, known for The Adam Project, is Percy Jackson. Leah Jeffries, known for Empire, is Annabeth Chase. Aryan Simhadri, known for Cheaper by the Dozen, is Grover Underwood.

The Percy Jackson series has a previous movie adaptation starring Logan Lerman and Alexandra Daddario. But this movie adaptation was highly criticized by fans and the author of the series himself. Because of the past experience, fans were more than relieved to know that Riordan would be involved in the TV series.

One of the main differences between both adaptations is the casting. The TV series will have age-appropriate actors playing the title characters.

The rest of the cast includes Glynn Turman as Chiron, Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes, and Lance Reddick as Zeus. This would mark the final TV appearance of Reddick following his death in March 2023.
