Johan “N0tail” Sundstein used a portion of his winnings from The International 2019 to “buy” Ogre Magi for the Midas Mode 2.0 tournament.
The hero has had a great 2019 to this point, highlighted by winning The International 2019’s Arcana Vote and enjoying fairly regular use at the event as both a support and offlaner. N0tail seems to be among the hero’s admirers, and he showed it in a hilarious way.
For the Midas Mode 2.0 tournament, Ogre Magi has been transformed into “the Green Swamp Man.” Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner showed off the variant version of the hero on Twitter and opened up on N0tail’s role in the event.
“Out of nowhere, N0tail decided not only to purchase one of the heros for Betway Midas Mode 2, but also threw a big ol’ donation our way as well to help with the tourney costs,” Slacks said. “PRESENTING: GREEN SWAMP MAN who has NO AFFILIATION WITH OTHER INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES!”
Any resemblance to Shrek or any other DreamWorks Animation character is purely coincidental. Surely.

The Million Dollar Midas Mode project is a crowdfunding initiative introduced for the Midas Mode 2.0 tournaments that allows both fans and participants to sponsor things like heroes, items, towers, and more. The fundraising initiative has gathered $18,972 and added an extra bit of fun to an already unique tournament.
The most popular option is the “Sadim Screen Advertisements,” which are in-game billboards with customizable content. 152 have been purchased by fans.
The second-most popular sponsorship was for “B-tier” items. This category includes Dust of Appearance, Stout Shield, Tangos, Force Staff, Crimson Guard, Tranquil Boots, Divine Rapier, and many more. A total of 66 items fell into this category, and each one was purchased for $60.
A number of different heroes were also purchased, including Ancient Apparition, Axe, Io, Brewmaster, Kunkka, Skywrath Mage, and Witch Doctor. Some of these hero transformations are clever, such as Brewmaster’s barrel being replaced with a giant can of Team Secret’s new esports-themed beer. Others are downright wacky, like Witch Doctor carrying around a glock and giant pouch of Capri Sun.
Midas Mode 2.0 is currently underway and will run until October 2, 2019.
