The Nintendo Direct earlier today had a lot of hype announcements, including entirely new titles that feature iconic Mario characters. One of the most hype announcements was Mario & Luigi: Brothership. Here’s what we know ahead of its release later this year.
Mario & Luigi features a fun and cartoon-like art style and seems to have the humor and action to match. Mario & Luigi must island hop across a floating land called Shipshade Island, beating up new bad guys with dynamic duo techniques. The entire plot is still unknown but we also see Peach, Bowser, and other familiar faces as the brothers journey across Concordia.
The Nintendo Direct trailer showed off a lot of what we can expect from the upcoming adventure. It appears that the game relies heavily on co-op gameplay, with Mario and Luigi teaming up to solve two-person puzzles, combine abilities to take down baddies in boss fights, and coordinate with one another to get across maps easier.
It hasn’t been officially confirmed just yet but it’s almost guaranteed that Mario & Luigi will be a two-player game. This probably means opportunities to play with a friend online or in person, couch co-op style. You can more than likely play solo as well, with the second character removed completely or controlled by AI.
The new Mario and Luigi game is coming to Nintendo Switch on November 7, 2024.
It’s still too early to pre-order the game but keep checking the Nintendo eShop to see when it becomes available.
