QTCinderella’s streamer awards were a success, but they were not without controversy. Kyedae “Kyedae” Shymko won Best Valorant Streamer, but some in the community aren’t happy with the results.

On March 11, about 300 streamers gathered at Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles for the annual Streamer Awards hosted by QTCinderella. The event saw 381,000 concurrent viewers watch their favorite entertainers live. From fun banter and brutal roasts to heartwarming speeches, the Streamer Awards 2023 was a treat to watch.

But trolls have nitpicked faults in the successful event, claiming that the voting of the Valorant category for the Streamer Award was either rigged or swayed by the recent health update in Kyedae’s life.

Kyedae responds to the hate after Streamer Award win

Kyedae was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a blood and bone marrow cancer. Since she broke this news, fans have been concerned for her health and well-being. Amid all of this, Streamer Awards 2023 took place, and Kyedae was nominated alongside Tarik “tarik” Celik, QuarterJade, and Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan.

The Twitch community flooded the announcement’s comment section, claiming that Kyedae’s win had more to do with her cancer than the content. Many came out in her support, saying that she deserved the award, but trolls disagreed.

On a regular day, her win might have been met with praise, but the circumstances are now different, and Kyedae is well aware.

Kyedae took to Twitter and said that she expected a backlash, even though Streamer Awards were 70% decided by the public voting. QTCinderella came in her defense, revealing that Kyedae won by majority vote, with Jodi coming in second and Tarik in third, despite community expectations.

Tarik also stood up for Kyedae and said she “100% deserves the recognition.” While the trolls are indeed brutal, it seems that Kyedae is doing just fine and doesn’t care much about them. The streamer is getting praise for her calm demeanor and excellent sense of humor at the Streamer Award show.
