Baki is one of the oldest martial arts manga but has remained relevant for over two decades. Now, what’s the status of Baki? Is it over or still ongoing? 

Baki is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki. It falls under the genres of martial arts, action, and sports. The series follows the journey of Baki Hanma, a young and highly skilled martial artist, as he seeks to become the strongest fighter in the world.

The manga has been adapted into multiple anime series and OVAs (original video animations), each covering different parts of the manga’s storyline. The series has gained a dedicated fanbase due to its action-packed scenes, diverse characters, and exploration of various martial arts disciplines. In 2023, fans are curious just how much of Baki is left. 

Is Baki over?

Baki’s storyline and combat have both slowed down, but it’s still ongoing in 2023. 

The manga is still ongoing, with multiple sequels and adaptations over the years. The original manga, “Baki the Grappler,” has been followed by various sequels and spin-offs, including “Baki: New Grappler Baki,” “Baki Hanma: Son of Ogre,” and more.

Several series and OVAs have been released in terms of anime adaptations, with the most recent being “Baki Hanma: The Son of Ogre” on Netflix. The franchise continues to expand, and there may be future installments and adaptations to look forward to. 

The Baki manga series consists of five main works: Grappler Baki, Baki, Hanma Baki, Baki-Dou, and Bakidou. The manga has been ongoing since October 1991 and currently has 146 volumes split across the works. As of 2018, the fourth work, Bakidou, is still ongoing.
