As soon as fans saw Kleavor, they started wondering how to evolve a Scyther in new game Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Now we know the answer.

This curiosity comes from the fact that Scyther already has a defined evolution. Players have been able to evolve Scyther into Scizor by trading it with a Metal Coat held item since Pokemon Gold and Silver. So how can Scyther evolve into Kleavor?

Pokemon Sword and Shield saw a significant branching out for evolution items. Instead of just evolutionary stones, players could use anything from apples to teapots for evolving certain Pokemon. That has carried forward into this latest game. Here’s how to get a Kleavor by evolving Scyther in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

How to get Kleavor in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Kleavor can be evolved from a Scyther by using a Black Augurite.

This is done in the same way as an evolution stone. Players simply need to acquire the item, capture a Scyther, and use the item on it. There are no restrictions regarding its level and seemingly no preconditions for evolving it, unlike Ursaluna, who has some extra requirements for evolving.

Players can get Kleavor quite early in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Though many of the early-game Pokemon harken back to those of Diamond and Pearl such as Wurmple and Shinx, Kleavor can be acquired before the end of the first area.

Alongside getting a Kleavor by evolving it, players will be forced to face a Frenzied Noble Kleavor. Kleavor was prominently featured in trailers during the buildup to the game’s release and was among the first Hisuian variants to be shown off.

How to get Black Augurite to evolve Scyther in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Players can get an infinite number of Black Augurite items by defeating wild Gravelers.

Black Augurite is needed to evolve Scyther into Kleavor in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and it can be obtained in a variety of ways. This includes digging for treasure with Ursaluna, purchasing it from special NPCs, and completing quests. However, the most productive way and cost-effective to get all the Black Augurites a player could ever need is by knocking out Gravelers.

Gravelers can be found in multiple areas and they have a chance of dropping Black Augurite. With the Sturdy ability left behind in the mainline Pokemon games, players can easily defeat Graveler in just one turn if they’re sufficiently leveled. One hit with a grass or water attack will likely knock out the Graveler, which offers the chance for Black Augurite alongside some needed EXP.
