Here’s how to get and use Moon Stones in Pokemon BDSP
While acquiring evolution stones such as the Thunder Stone, Moon Stone, and Shiny Stone has traditionally been easy, they’re actually quite rare in Pokemon BDSP.
The Grand Underground was one of the big additions to Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and The Pokemon Company wanted to make sure players spent a lot of time in it. They did this by sticking most of the evolution stones in digging spots and making them a fairly rare drop.
That said, the Moon Stone is a bit different. There are other options for farming this stone that give players some respite from the ever-frustrating underground.
Here are all the ways you can find Moon Stones in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
How to find Moon Stones in Pokemon BDSP
Players can find Moon Stones in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl by digging for them in the Grand Underground or stealing them from certain wild Pokemon.
While most evolution stones in Pokemon BDSP can be found on the ground somewhere, players looking for Moon Stones aren’t so lucky. Players can only really acquire them through a combination of luck and brutal, frustrating grinding. The odds of digging up evolution stones go up in the post-game, with Moon Stones being slightly more common in Pokemon Shining Pearl than in Brilliant Diamond.
The intended method for acquiring Moon Stones is by digging for them in Pokemon BDSP’s Grand Underground. All the different evolution stones can be found in the walls alongside the shards, plates, and hidden base statues.
Luckily, there’s one other method for getting them.
Wild Cleffa, Clefairy, Clefable, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, and Lunatone all have a 5% chance of carrying Moon Stones. These items can be taken from the wild Pokemon by either catching them or using the Thief attack. This can be increased to 10% by using a Pokemon with the Super Luck ability, with Absol being the best option.
These are the Pokemon that evolve from Moon Stones in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl:
- Nidorino
- Nidorina
- Clefairy
- Jigglypuff
- Skitty
Alongside these Pokemon, Munna evolves into Musharna using a Moon Stone. Munna is not currently available in Pokemon BDSP, so players only need five Moon Stones in order to catch every Pokemon in the Pokedex. Unfortunately, they actually need to get five Moon Stones because none of the Pokemon that evolve from them can be found in the wild.
