Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the most iconic cartoons out there, and nobody has been able to recreate it properly. Well, until now. We just got the first trailer for Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the series, and fans are finally excited.
Avatar: The Last Airbender has lived on as one of the most iconic Western cartoons thanks to its anime-inspired art style, likable characters, intense storylines, and memorable moments. Since then, fans have been disappointed with most Avatar-related media, including M. Night Shyamalan’s live-action film and a so-so-animated series sequel, The Legend of Korra.
In fact, the Shyamalan movie from 2010 has a 5% on Rotten Tomatoes. Luckily, this new live-action series looks a lot more promising.
“The world needs the avatar,” the trailer states. And that is most definitely right.
Avatar: The Last Airbender | Official Trailer | Netflix
In the trailer, we get our first real glimpse at Aang and the other main characters, who all seem to be portrayed accurately in the show, both visually and personality-wise. Appa and Momo also look identical to how they appeared on the original show.
Not only that, but the entire vibe of the show has appealed to long-time fans. The intense fight scenes, emotional moments, and goofy antics of the characters are all portrayed in the trailer, giving fans hope.
The live-action series will arrive on February 22, exclusively on Netflix.
