Asmongold on Ninja multi-stream move, "it's not a good idea"

Many are trying to make heads and tails of Tyler “Ninja” Blevins’ multi-stream move, with World of Warcraft streamer Asmongold being among them.

Ninja recently returned from a break to reveal his plan to simultaneously stream on YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and TikTok. While some content creators, like Felix “xQc” Lengyel, felt it was the “future” of streaming, others are quite skeptical of the concept.

Asmongold not a fan of Ninja multi-streaming move

While many streamers supported Ninja’s decision to multi-stream, Asmongold wasn’t too excited about the possible new trend. Asmongold said in a recent stream that it wasn’t a good idea, feeling there were a lot of issues with multi-streaming.

At first, Asmongold said he was “curious” to see what would happen but didn’t find the news “exciting.” As someone not partnered with Twitch, there was no “drama” in him streaming everywhere all at once, but he still felt it was a bad idea.

“Let’s say you have a livestream on seven platforms and each platform has 1K viewers… Is it better to have seven live streams that have 1,000 viewers or one livestream that has 7,000 viewers? I would probably argue that it’s better overall to have one livestream that has 7,000,” Asmongold said.

Asmongold said that it’s “easier in general” to have one stream instead. It’s easier to manage and easier to communicate with viewers. Asmongold said that the amount of audience interaction was going to “go down tremendously” and was not sure how Ninja would read seven chats simultaneously. This could cause the quality of his streams to go down, something even Twitch has stated in its exclusivity update.

While Asmongold felt that Ninja would do best on YouTube where his biggest following currently is, the streamer added that there isn’t really a big risk on Ninja’s end anyway.

“Ninja won the game. He’s the most popular gamer in the world. More people recognize him than any other top Twitch streamer. He can do whatever the f— he wants,” Asmongold said.

Asmongold added that Ninja is a competitive person who probably has a hard time coping with his numbers now compared to his popularity in 2018. This is something that Asmongold struggles with himself. But in reality, he said, Ninja is worth around $80 million and can just kick back, relax, and enjoy the fact that he’s the “first mainstream gaming celebrity.”

“F— the viewership. Do what you want,” Asmongold said.

While Ninja can afford to take risks and try out multi-streaming, only time will tell if other streamers will, or even should, follow suit.
