A recent report from StreamHatchet had some shocking findings about the top streamers of 2021, and one concerns the positioning of popular streamer Amouranth.

SteamHatchet has revealed the most popular streamers based on hours watched across Twitch, YouTube, Facebook Gaming, and beyond. A lot of the results are what people would expect, such as Felix “xQc” Lengyel being at the top after his successful Master Chef era and trial reactions.

But there was one very standout fact about the top streamers featured in the second quarter of 2022: 99 of the most popular 100 streamers were men. There was only one female streamer in the top 100, and it may come as a surprise to some.

While Imane “Pokimane” Anys and Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter are known for their wholesome personalities, engaging Just Chatting sessions, and skilled gaming displays, they were not able to crack the top 100, which was dominated by male influencers. Among the likes of xQc, Asmongold, Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp, and Tyler “Trainwreckstv” Niknam, was one female influencer who dominated 2021: Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa.

Amouranth is most viewed female streamer in 2022

Amouranth has at times been the talk of the streaming community thanks to her controversial behavior on Twitch. She continued to push the limits of the streaming platform’s Terms of Service, wearing revealing bikinis in hot tubs and making out with microphones during ASMR streams. The antics paid off, with Amouranth earning $1.5 million a month from OnlyFans alone.

Amouranth had 8.2 million hours watched in Q2 of 2022, putting her at number 56 in the top 100 streamers of the year. By comparison, Pokimane had 4.5 million hours watched that quarter while Valkyrae had 4.3 million. Popular VTuber Ironmouse had 3.3 million.

Despite blowing her female competitors away with in hours watched, her numbers compared are still dwarfed by the most popular male streamers. xQc had 70.6 million hours watched in Q2 compared to Amouranth’s 8.2 million.

This coincides with Amouranth’s argument back in April 2021 that finding success on Twitch isn’t easy for women. While men often throw around the concept of women easily getting views on Twitch due to their assumed sex appeal or good looks, Amouranth argued that “being pretty” is just a way to get started, not a guarantee of meaningful success.

While female streamers are sometimes unfairly judged by their looks, even the women who are most celebrated for their appearance won’t automatically shoot up to the top of the streaming charts. In fact, it can be harder for female streamers to grow due to the harassment and sexism they face.
