Riot Games has announced one of the new champions coming to League of Legends in 2024, Ambessa Medarda, the Noxian warlord from animated show Arcane.
Riot Games has gotten in the habit of releasing regular update videos for fans. These tend to help lay out their plans for the future. The first video for the new season, which announced tons of new content coming in 2024, even name-dropped one of the champions arriving later in the year.
Ambessa Medarda from Arcane’s first season, will be joining League of Legends as a high-skill skirmisher.
In Arcane’s first season, fans are introduced to Ambessa Medarda, the war-waging, party-loving, dangerous-as-she-is-clever, and charismatic head of the Noxian’s empire’s Clan Medarda. She is notably the mother of Mel Medarda, one of Arcane’s protagonists. Ambessa plays mostly a supporting role in the series. She visits Piltover for leisure and to check on her daughter after her son is killed in Noxus.
Mel Medarda’s Mother Visits Piltover | Arcane Episode 8
Mel’s mother comes across as a strong, no-nonsense soldier forged in the fires of Noxus’ expansionist war machine. We never get to see her fight, but it’s clear from her long tenure as a Noxian warlord and her many scars that she’s capable. Riot has announced that she’ll be joining the roster of champions.
Developers described her as a high-skill cap fighter, able to side-step attacks with ease. At the same time, it was also emphasized that she won’t be for the faint of heart. This likely means she’ll be a relatively short-range melee skirmisher that dances around her opponents.
