A live-action Legend of Zelda film is coming
The rumors are true: A live-action The Legend of Zelda is coming.
Nintendo and Sony Pictures are currently collaborating on a live-action movie based on the iconic Legend of Zelda video game franchise. This comes after months of denying rumors that the movie was in the works.
The speculations started picking up steam in June of this year when Jeff Sneider claimed he had an inside source that pointed to the film being in the works. He stated at the time that Nintendo was teaming up with Universal to create its next Illumination animated film but it now looks like it will be live action.
Is The Legend of Zelda getting a film?
Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that The Legend of Zelda is getting a live-action film on Nintendo’s Twitter on November 7.
According to Miyamoto, he has been working on the film “for many years now” alongisde Avi Arad. Arad is the producer behind a lot of iconic geek-centric films, including Spider-Man and Uncharted.
As far as when it’s being released, however, there’s not a lot of information out there. According to Nintendo Japan, the movie is only just “starting development” right now.
Still, there will most likely be exciting teasers and news leading up to the release, so be on the lookout for who will be starring as Link and many other interesting developments. Fans are already thinking Hunter Schafer will play Princess Zelda but nothing is confirmed at all.
