Fans of Harry Potter will finally be able to live their magical fantasies in the virtual Hogwarts castle but the education may not come cheap. Looking at the gameplay teaser, it’s evident that Portkey Games’ RPG would cost an arm and a leg. Fans are now concerned whether the game would have pay-to-win features that may put those willing to spend ahead.
The March 18 footage has allowed fans to anticipate what to expect from the Harry Potter-themed game. But will Hogwarts Legacy have microtransactions?
Hogwarts Legacy is free of microtransactions
The possibility of microtransactions had the Harry Potter community in an uproar. Seeing the concern, game developer Chandler Wood has announced that Hogwarts Legacy will not have microtransactions. So, all players will be equally equipped to take on evil forces.
It’s pretty standard for multiplayer games to have stringent paywalls that set some players apart from the rest. Those who can afford the pricey skins and equipment find it easier to breeze through the cut-throat missions. While it’s a clever strategy on developers’ part to squeeze full juice out of the game, players often avoid RPGs that require bonus buys. Fortunately, the larger-than-life universe of Hogwarts will be free to explore for those who’ve bought the game.
Hogwarts Legacy does not have in-game purchases or micro-transactions. All of the game’s features should be available at launch and without the need for additional payments after players have downloaded the game. It’s possible that Hogwarts Legacy could receive DLC updates in the future, but this has not been confirmed.
Usually, players spend money on virtual cosmetics to flex on their teammates. It makes sense for Hogwarts Legacy to not have microtransactions since it’s an offline game. The players won’t be able to team up against dark wizards and mysterious monsters.

The official price of Hogwarts Legacy hasn’t been revealed yet. But, retailers like Argo’s, Amazon, and

are charging around $50-$60.
The game will likely cost big bucks for its explorable universe that extends outside of the castle itself. Luckily, Hogwarts Legacy is free of microtransactions, so all players will be paying only once for all in-game features.
