Popular Twitch streamer Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff has been banned on Twitch for the first time since he started streaming in 2010.
Nickmercs, who’s often at the center of controversy for slamming LGBTQ community and transgender people, has now found himself in hot waters. On June 28, StreamerBans reported that his Twitch account had been suspended indefinitely. Taking to X, Nickmercs has responded to the ban, revealing the real reason.
While fans had speculated that his ban could be due to hate speech against transgender people, some are still shocked that he got suspended for using a derogatory term.
On June 28, Nickmercs’ account was banned on Twitch. He later revealed that he may have been banned for using the term “tranny.” However, he doesn’t seem to be remorseful about it.
Taking to X, Nickmercs confirmed that he has indeed been banned for transphobic remarks, specifically using a term that is widely used to mock trans people.
“Banned for using the word ‘tranny’ on Twitch. Apparently, that’s a derogatory term. That’s on me. Next time I’ll use mental health disorder,” Nickmercs said.
This isn’t the first time Nickmercs has been in the spotlight for being publicly transphobic. He was previously slammed for saying there’s “no such thing as trans” and that there are only two genders. That wasn’t all. He has also raised issues with schools celebrating and talking about Pride Month, where he called them out for not leaving the kids alone.
So, when he got banned, a significant portion of the fanbase had a vague understanding of the reason. While this is his first ban, the punishment shouldn’t last long. It wouldn’t be shocking if Twitch decided to keep his account locked indefinitely because of his recent post, which indicates that he has no remorse for using the transphobic term.
