Nickmercs was a gamer from a young age despite his parents not initially approving of the lifestyle. He immersed himself in competitive gaming, becoming a professional Gears of War esports for a team called Th3 NSAN3Z. During his time as a Gears of War pro, Nickmercs won events including MLG Anaheim, MLG Dr. Pepper, and the MLG Orlando National Championships.
After his Gears of War career concluded, Nickmercs initially transitioned to playing Halo before deciding to begin streaming instead. Nickmercs started streaming back when Twitch was still Justin.tv in 2010. He then created a YouTube channel in 2011 where he made videos featuring Call of Duty and other FPS games.

Nickmercs shared a photo in September that showed a huge group of fans at the event with no masks or other protective equipment being worn. This caused an uproar, with many accusing Nickmercs of being reckless. According to Nickmercs, there were over 10,000 live attendees at the event.
