Peng “Doublelift” Yilang is one of the icons of North American League of Legends. But who is the veteran League of Legends pro and how did he get so popular?

Doublelift is a retired professional League of Legends player who competed in the LCS, short for the North American LoL league. He was one of the earliest professional players in the scene, playing for years as one of the best in his region.

Who is Doublelift?

Doublelift first made his way into the sanctioned professional scene with Epik Gamer in the Riot Season 1 Championship in 2011, the equivalent of Worlds at the time. He would play under the banner of Team Curse later on that year before joining Counter Logic Gaming in 2012. Doublelift would swap from playing support, known for his Blitzcrank, to playing Marksman quite quickly.

It was in the blue and black of CLG that he would make a name for himself, becoming a community favorite as a part of the “Rush Hour” duo lane next to Zaqueri “Aphromoo” Black. After being dropped from CLG, he would continue on to long-time rival TSM.

This began his greatest spree of dominance, crushing the LCS for years as a top competitor. When TSM broke up its multi-time championship roster, he went to Team Liquid, where he found even more years of dominance.

Finally, he would be returned to TSM following internal disputes on Team Liquid, winning a final LCS championship before retiring to create content.

How old is Doublelift?

Doublelift was born on July 19, 1993, and is 28 years old at the time of writing. He was with the LCS from its inception all the way through to his retirement, though he did take a voluntary split away in 2017.

How tall is Doublelift?

There’s no official source on Doublelift’s height, but most fan accounts of meeting the marksman put him somewhere between 5’10” and 6 feet tall.

How many times has Doublelift won LCS?

Doublelift has won a split of the LCS a staggering nine separate times, topping him out as the most successful player in the history of the league when it comes purely to domestic titles.

Why did Doublelift retire?

His retirement was announced following his final win with TSM during the LCS’ summer 2020 split. Since then, he has been focused on content creation and entertainment as his primary pursuit. He has attributed his retirement to a lack of motivation as well as being burned out by off-season drama.

Why is there drama between Doublelift and TSM Reginald?

Recently, Doublelift spoke out about alleged abusive behavior from TSM co-founder and owner Andy “Reginald” Dinh, alleging inappropriate behavior from the organization’s founder. These accusations alongside other accounts of Dinh misbehaving have led to Riot Games conducting an ongoing investigation.
