Recently, at the State of Unreal live stream, Epic Games unveiled a huge new step forwards for the game. It’s a modified version of the Unreal Engine that will open up a whole new world of options for experiences in Fortnite, but what exactly is UEFN?

What is Unreal Editor for Fortnite

Unreal Editor for Fortnite, or Creative 2.0, is a modified version of Unreal Engine that fans can use to create custom experiences specifically for Fortnite, using all the power of Unreal Engine 5. This new program was announced by Epic Games at the State of Unreal live stream. In trailers showing off the massive customization and creative capabilities, Epic Games showed just how much UEFN is capable of.

From animating models to create custom environments, this program is available completely for free to any Fortnite player who wants it. It harnesses all of Unreal Engine 5’s power to massively increase the power that fans have to modify Epic Games’ flagship battle royale.

From modeling and material tools, using Niagara to create visual effects, animating via Control Rig, and designing Gameplay with Verse, UEFN does it all. It’s hard to overstate the possibilities that this opens up for Fortnite’s future, with fans able to create all sorts of custom experiences. In fact, some are already recreating the original Fortnite Battle Royale map for fans to play on. Soon enough, Fortnite will feel like many games all under one title, thanks to the power of this new feature.
