Valorant agent 17 revealed, Chamber abilities explained
Valorant has announced the identity of agent 17. Chamber brings his own custom weapons into the game for the first time.
Agent 17, named “Deadeye” by the leakers, has finally been revealed by Riot Games. The new agent is called Chamber, and while he may not meddle with time as predicted, his ultimate does come with a custom Operator, coinciding with the bullet teaser Riot shared earlier this month.
Sleek-looking Chamber is a Sentinel who hails from France. He carries an expensive business card that costs more than “most people’s closet,” according to the messenger in Fracture. The first look of agent 17 has been revealed, but he’ll officially enter the game on November 16.
What are Chamber’s abilities?
(C) Trademark
Place a trap that scans for enemies. When a visible enemy comes in range, the trap counts down and then destabilizes the terrain around them, creating a lingering field that slows players caught inside of it.
(Q) Headhunter
Activate to equip a heavy pistol. Press ALT fire with the pistol equipped to aim downsights.
(E) Rendezvous
Place two teleport anchors. While on the ground or in range of the anchor, reactive to quickly teleport to the other anchor. Anchors can be picked to be redeployed.
(X) Tour de Force
Activate this ultimate to summon a powerful custom sniper rifler that will kill an enemy with any direct hit. Killing an enemy will reload the bullet automatically. Tour de Force also slows down enemies within the targeted area.
Apart from his ultimate ability, Chamber doesn’t bring anything new to the table. His basic skills are pretty similar to Yoru, who can teleport around small areas and toy with enemies. However, Chamber’s power to redeploy his TP grants him more control over other agents in Valorant who can move around maps.
With his ultimate Tour de Force and the Headhunter ability, Riot Games seems to be working on bringing gunplay to the forefront in a unique way. The developer previously revealed Kay/O in an effort to defuse overpowered abilities, and Chamber seems to do the same in a different way. The Sentinel carries his own pistol and sniper that can shoot down enemies.
Ability-wise, Chamber shouldn’t turn the meta around as Kay/O and Astra did on a higher level. However, he certainly does seem to be of great help, especially on the defense side when it comes to slowing down enemies. It remains to be seen how Chamber impacts agent pick rate since players didn’t appreciate Yoru much for his teleport powers. However, his sniper ultimate might drive players’ interest.
Chamber enters Valorant protocol on November 16 along with patch 3.10.
