Queen of YouTube Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter has announced some surprise adoption plans.
On Twitter last night, Valkyrae revealed that she was looking into adopting a baby with her mother. She explained that her mom would take care of the baby while she paid for all of the expenses.
“The idea of having another little sibling feels unreal,” Valkyrae added.

has been looking into adoption for a while, so this wasn’t a sudden decision. According to Valkyrae, her mother and her have been discussing adoption for a long time “and feel it’s an appropriate time to start the long process.”
Valkyrae then asked others about their experience with adoption or being adopted.

The streaming community was initially surprised to hear Valkyrae talk about adoption, especially since she previously said she didn’t want to be a parent. But that seems to have changed over the last few months.
According to Valkyrae, she’s too busy to be a mother herself and found the concept intimidating. But this new arrangement would allow Valkyrae to support a child without taking a break from her busy career. Still, many felt concerned about the tweet and mentioned that she previously expressed that she didn’t want to be a mother.

In response to some of the backlash, Valkyrae said that maybe her initial tone hadn’t been the right one to use. Her possibly flippant tone may have made it seem like she was unaware of how big a deal adoption is and how hard the process is. She even regretted sharing the news after all of the ridicule but said that she wasn’t going to take down the post at this point.
Others told Valkyrae that they had been adopted and would love to share the experience with her. She replied to these with enthusiasm, telling them to privately message her about their experiences, good or bad.
So far, Valkyrae hasn’t shared any updates on the decision to adopt with her mom.
