Top Esports vs. Weibo Gaming: 2022 LPL Spring match analysis

A battle between two top contenders is about to unfold as the 2022 LPL Spring Split enters the closing stages of the regular split.

It will be Weibo Gaming taking on Top Esports, as TES has been climbing towards the top lately with a current winning streak of six. Weibo Gaming is already sitting at second place with a 10-2 record but has recently slowed in its dominance from the first half of the split.

This makes up for an interesting matchup, where Top Esports will look to continue its winning streak by taking down one of the LPL favorites. Top Esports itself started out the season very slow but has now turned up the pace with one good team performance after the other.

Coming off of wins against the likes of LNG Esports, Bilibili Gaming, EDward Gaming, Top Esports is more than ready to surprise another top contender in the league. At this point, TES might start to be considered one of the actual favorites of the league, unlike at the start of the season.

Top lane could be decisive for Top Esports against Weibo Gaming

For Top Esports to continue this winning stream, it will have to play to its best. One role, in particular, seems very important, as Weibo Gaming will be fielding Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok in the top lane. He has been redeeming himself this split.

After a bad year in 2021, it finally seems like TheShy is back in shape and able to challenge any top laner in the LPL. This has been one of the biggest strengths for Weibo Gaming so far and will also be one of the biggest keys to beating Top Esports.

The main reason for this is that Top Esports is still fairly inexperienced in the top lane, where the young Huang “Wayward” Ren-Xing has gotten a shot to prove himself. So far, Wayward has performed well on champions such as Gwen and Graves, but now his biggest test so far will arrive in TheShy.

If Wayward can stand his ground against the legendary top laner, then Top Esports will have room to play the map and get its carries rolling. Wayward isn’t necessarily the one who needs to carry, but instead he will need to make sure that TheShy doesn’t pop off and turn into the unstoppable monster that has been seen plenty of times this season already.

If Wayward succeeds with that, then this series should turn in favor of Top Esports and continue the team’s climb towards becoming the best team in the LPL.

Top Esports to extend winning streak against Weibo Gaming

A match like this can be hard to predict, especially because Weibo Gaming is sitting on a better record but Top Esports is the team with all the momentum. For this match, we are going with Top Esports as the winner but likely over the course of all three games in a full series.

Winning six matches in a row in the LPL is no easy task, proving that Top Esports is in perfect shape entering this match. Weibo Gaming is still a tough team to beat, but their recent 0-2 loss against Royal Never Give Up has shown that the team can be exploited. We believe that TES will be able to do that in its current shape and get one step closer to the top 3 teams in the standings.

The brawl between Top Esports and Weibo Gaming takes place on Friday, March 11.
