This is why Cloud9 is the 2022 LCS Spring Split playoff favorite

The 2022 LCS Spring Split is shaping up to be extremely close between league leaders Cloud9 and Team Liquid, but it seems that one of the two teams has gotten the edge.

This edge goes to C9 after it took down Liquid in the most anticipated game of the week. This wasn’t just a game between two of the split favorites, but also a direct battle for first place. It was C9 who came out on top and now take sole possession of first place in the LCS.

Liquid is still right behind, but it’s likely that C9 has finally gotten the edge and momentum that it needed. With now eight wins in a row, C9 is also the first team to lock in playoffs and can now focus solely on staying in the first place as the teams enter the last two weeks of regular-split games.

Summit is the carry for Cloud9 in the LCS

One of the main reasons why C9 is currently succeeding and looking like the biggest favorite this LCS split is because of top lane carry Park “Summit” Woo-tae. After being picked up from Liiv SANDBOX before the 2022 LCS Spring Split, Summit has been crushing the top lane during his first split in North America.

The 23-year-old top laner has been able to dominate almost any opponent he has been put up against. One of the main strengths of Summit has proven to be his ability to play carry top lane champions and to split push. His best games have been on the likes of Tryndamere, Gnar, and Jayce. He has also shown plenty of skill on Camille, Gwen, and others, which makes it very hard for opposing teams to draft against him.

No matter how much LCS teams try, it has simply not been enough to shut down Summit and that will continue to be an issue before teams figure out a way to play against him. In C9’s most recent game, it was none other than Liquid’s Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau who got a taste of the Summit medicine which ultimately turned into a decisive win for C9 and a player of the week award to Summit.

The rest of the C9 squad has also been performing to a very high standard and seems to be synergizing well with each other after only a few months together. Even with Summit dominating the Rift today, there are other potential carries on C9 which makes the team very scary moving forward into the playoffs.
