The most successful European organization throughout the last few years of League of Legends, G2 Esports, will be heading into the 2022 LEC season with a very different roster.

After failing to qualify for the World Championship for the first time in the organization’s history, G2 entered the offseason with a lot of things to improve upon. The 2021 season was an overall failure for the star-packed roster, resulting in two splits played without reaching the LEC final.

This made it no surprise when offseason rumors started to flourish about G2 making big changes for the 2022 season, starting out by changing the coaching staff. Shortly after, it was announced that G2 will be playing with former TSM and Schalke 04 top laner Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik, who will replace long-time G2 player Martin “Wunder” Hansen.

In the bot lane, G2 is also swapping players as Martin “Rekkles” Larsson has officially left the organization after just one year to play in the French LFL for Karmine Corp. This has left some big shoes to fill in the carry position, where the young Spanish talent Victor “Flakked” Lirola will step in after playing for MAD Lions Madrid in the Spanish LVP Superleague.

Supporting Flakked will be former Karmine Corp support Raphaël “Targamas” Crabbé, who has been praised as one of the smartest European players outside of the LEC. Now, he will finally get a shot in the top European league after playing for several LEC Academy teams throughout his four-year career.

The young bot lane will leave a lot of questions for G2 heading into the next season, as none of the players are proven in the LEC. Starting the year with two rookies will be something new for G2 who will likely go into the season with lowered expectations.

With time it will be known how much potential this new G2 roster has, still led by veteran jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski and mid lane star Rasmus “Caps” Winther.

G2’s new roster will debut when the 2022 LEC Spring Split kicks off on January 14.

What is the G2 Esports LEC roster for 2022?

G2 Esports will enter the new LEC season in 2022 with new young talent on the roster and potentially a completely new style of play. The legendary European organization will be looking to reclaim the LEC throne while trying to build synergy through its new roster.
