As Teamfight Tactics: Glitched Out is wrapping up, the next TFT set is going to be teased in-game for TFT fans to speculate about.
In a developer blog posted earlier today, Riot Games announced the details of this set’s For Fun patch. The For Fun patch is a staple of Teamfight Tactics, adding wacky features to the game before the next set arrives. This has been going on since TFT’s second set, but really took a step up ahead of Dragonlands. In the For Fun patch, Riot Games adds fun and goofy new aspects to the game to keep it fresh and build hype for the new set.
This time the For Fun patch will actually evolve over several patches rather than just the last set. The new feature being added to make the game more fun will be exclusively in Normal queues. Or, as they’re going to be called until the new set, Normal (With Portals?!), and yes, that’s literally the name. Throughout the game, portals will appear with a chance to drop loot at different stages. Here are the odds.
At Stages 2-6, 3-3, and 4-3, there’s a chance for portals to open and give additional loot. What’s inside the portals will vary depending on the region, and more regions will be added to the game as the patches go on.
Riot has said the portals won’t be the next set’s mechanic but that they do have something to do with the next set. It’s possible that the next TFT set will be centered on Runeterran regions as factions, which could explain the region-specific portals being added to the game. Normals with portals will be available starting on Patch 13.9.
