Tfue blames Fortnite World Cup audio for his lack of eliminations

Many were shocked by the poor Fortnite World Cup Solo Finals performance of Turner “Tfue” Tenney.

The FaZe Clan player was able to consistently start in his prefered zone, The Block, but placed 67th after only scoring seven points.

But now Tfue is saying that he wasn’t completely at fault for that forgettable showing. Speaking on Twitch, he discussed missing at least one opportunity to kill another player due to the event’s loud audio setup.

“They have noise-canceling headphones but it’s so fucking loud you can hear the announcers,” Tfue told his followers.

Tfue recalled one moment during the event where he landed at The Block and came across a Gold Chest that contained ideal loot. When the announcers start exclaiming that he had full shields and a combat shotgun, it prompted other nearby players to flee, including one that Tfue speculated was looking to engage him by breaking down nearby walls.

While the story amused his Twitch followers, it’s not clear if the other player truly ran away after hearing the announcer’s commentary. To this point, no other World Cup competitors have commented on the audio level.

Though Tfue suggested that the booming voices of the commentators was a factor in his poor showing, there is no question that tactical errors were key in his 67th-place finish.

Tfue was consistently unable to score kills and was eliminated in the early game on a few occasions. One particular moment that stood out to World Cup viewers was when 13-year-old King easily eliminated the famous Fortnite streamer after a failed Shadow Bomb. The botched engagement saw Tfue slide down a ledge into an indefensible position, resulting in an elimination and some visible frustration.

Sixteen-year-old Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf took home the $3 million victory royale with an impressive 59 points. The runner-up wasn’t even close with 33 points.
