The telecom war is back in the LCK when first-place team T1 takes on KT Rolster during the fifth week of the 2022 LCK Spring Split.

It will be an uphill battle when KT faces off against the undefeated T1 for the first time this season. T1 will be entering the best-of-three match with loads of confidence after achieving an 8-0 record so far this split. KT is sitting at a decent 4-4 record, showing inconsistencies but still being able to take some important wins.

Now the real test begins as a win against T1 will be the confidence boost that KT has been chasing. As a former top organization in the LCK, it has been a while since KT has competed at the absolute top and now it has the chance.

Cuzz needs to outperform Oner to win against T1

T1 has only dropped four individual games so far this split. The young T1 squad with Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok leading the charge has proven itself to be highly skilled individually and as a team. KT also has some individual strength to bring to the table, but paired against the likes of T1 it seems a lost battle even before hitting Summoner’s Rift.

This means that KT will need to bring something else, which could be surprising picks or strategies to throw T1 off guard. KT isn’t known as the most explosive team in the league, but now might be the time to try something new and in that way disrupt the lane-dominant T1 squad.

The player to take charge of such strategies will be jungler Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan, who previously played for T1. Not only is Cuzz the man to make things happen in the early game, he is also the one with inside knowledge of T1 and how the team functions.

He will be going up against the young Moon “Oner” Hyeon-joon who has been absolutely incredible for T1 this season. Oner has shown great diversity in his champion pool and has carried T1 in several games. Currently, Oner’s Viego and Xin Zhao are looking scary and could be worth banning out for KT.

The task of disrupting Oner will be hard, and Cuzz will need to be put on a comfort pick to try to have a greater impact than Oner on the map. Only if that happens does will it seem like KT can stand a chance against this T1 squad. If it doesn’t, then KT fans might be looking at a quick loss.

T1 expected to continue undefeated streak against KT Rolster

For KT to stop T1’s undefeated streak in the LCK, something extraordinary needs to happen. Not only will KT have to play to its absolute best, but it’s likely that T1 will need to have an off day. KT has shown that it can play quality League of Legends this split, but taking two games off T1 seems like a stretch. This is also why T1 is a huge favorite to win this match according to the bookmakers, but maybe not as big of a favorite as it should be. Because of this, solid odds can still be obtained on T1 if combined with some other matches.

If T1 takes the win in this match it will be possible to get odds at 1.23. Meanwhile, KT will give odds of 3.75 if it pulls off the upset. That seems unlikely, but it’s possible that KT could compete to take one game off T1.

The telecom war between T1 and KT Rolster will take place on Friday, February 18.
