The sixth week of the 2022 LCK Spring Split will start with a match between two top teams in T1 and DWG KIA.

Despite being the defending LCK champion, it’s not DWG KIA who will enter this match as the favorite or the team that everyone is keeping an eye on. That will instead be T1, who is still undefeated in the league now with a whopping 10-0 record.

With the first round robin having played out, it’s currently hard to see who will be able to end the winning streak of T1. One of the top contenders to do so is DWG KIA, but even then it seems like a stretch to think that T1 will suddenly drop two games in a best-of-three. With that said, DWG KIA will shoot their shot and try to disrupt the dominance of T1.

DWG KIA is sitting at a 6-4 record and has been inconsistent with its new roster. With several young players on the team, DWG KIA is no longer the team that fans got to worship during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. DWG KIA is still a team to fear though, as the individual power and potential of the team are still great.

This is something that T1 cannot underestimate, but it’s also unlikely that it will. Just like DWG KIA, T1 is full of individual power led by the most experienced of them all in mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok. In many ways, T1 and DWG KIA are in a similar position this season but T1 is the team that does it best.

Canyon looking to shut down Gumayusi to beat T1

T1 has found a perfect spot in this meta and is showcasing great team play in every match. They’re a multi-threat team that can strike from pretty much any lane. The biggest carry so far has been bot laner Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, who is posting one world-class performance after the other.

Gumayusi will definitely be the player to shut down for DWG KIA, but even then there will be other individuals from T1 that could step up. This essentially means that DWG KIA will have to play to their absolute best to win and jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu especially will have to step up to get the ball rolling.

If he and mid laner Seo “ShowMaker” Su can play as they have done in past seasons, then DWG KIA might be able to give T1 a run for their money and force the match to three games. In a third game, anything can happen but something extraordinary will be needed to take down Faker and co.

If DWG KIA plays at its peak potential against T1, then the series could go down as one of the best this season. It might even be the one to end the winning streak of T1, but it will require the undefeated leaders to have an off day and most would want to see that before they can believe it.

T1 predicted to continue undefeated LCK streak vs. DWG KIA

Looking at the current record, it’s hard to bet against T1 until the team shows signs of real weakness. Going 10-0 in the LCK is no easy task, proving that T1 is doing many things right and that the remaining LCK teams are struggling to find a way to beat it.

This will likely also be the case for DWG KIA, despite being one of the top teams in the league. DWG KIA has the individual skill to match T1 in several positions but has lacked the team play that has won T1 many games this season. That difference alone makes it too risky to comfortably pick DWG KIA to win this one.

The bookmakers also agree that T1 is the heavy favorite here, but not big enough to make it a walkover. Because of that, there could also be some value in betting that this match goes the distance to three games.

As an undefeated team, the odds on T1 to win are decently high at 1.40. A DWG KIA win will give higher odds at 2.70 but it also comes with great risk. Most experts are favoring T1, but many are expecting that DWG KIA will bite back by taking one game.

The match between T1 and DWG KIA takes place on Wednesday, February 23.
