Street Fighter 6 pros concerned about Rashid in Evo 2023
Rashid is the first DLC fighter joining the Street Fighter 6 roster. While the FGC is excited to have him in the hit fighting game, they are unsure if he should be available to play at Evo 2023.
Street Fighter 6 has become one of the most successful modern fighting games thanks to its dynamic fighting, improved roster, and easy-to-learn controls. The esports side has also been successful thus far, with this year’s Capcom Cup announcing a $2 million prize pool and Evo 2023 having a record-breaking amount of signups.
There’s no doubt that the FGC is looking forward to Evo 2023, the biggest fighting game event of the year. But now there’s some controversy surrounding its Street Fighter 6 tournament.
Should Rashid be allowed in the Evo 2023 Street Fighter 6 tournament?
Rashid is coming to Street Fighter 6 on July 24, 2023. While this is exciting news for the fighting game community, the competitive side is a bit frustrated.
Evo 2023 is coming on August 3, 2023. That means the tournament is just a little under two weeks after Rashid joins the roster, giving pros just a few days to practice playing with and against him. There’s also a chance that Rashid won’t enter the game in a balanced state, meaning he could be far too OP or weak. If he ends up being too good, he could wipe out the competition due to a lack of available time to train against him.
A lot of Street Fighter 6 players noted that it would be quite frustrating to fly all the way to Evo 2023 just to lose to a random person playing Rashid in pools. Pro players agreed that there will most likely be chaos, although it could end up being exciting depending on how Rashid plays.
The highly mobile and agile Rashid looks quite strong in his gameplay trailer, so it’s no wonder some players are concerned. The spins and speed have players worried.
Said one fan: “He looks so cool. It almost made me forget I’m going to hate fighting him.”
Another added: “Adapt, overcome, and make less excuses.”
While Rashid may be a problem for Evo 2023, there’s no denying that the general Street Fighter 6 community is excited to try out the first DLC later this month.
