SirActionSlacks starting new NA event series with Arkosh Gaming

Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner is looking to help rebuild North American Dota 2, and he’s approaching it in a unique way.

Three weeks ago, a trailer for a new Dota 2 team named Arkosh Gaming dropped on YouTube with a strange parody of a song by fictional death metal band Dethklok. Fans were intrigued but uncertain what to make of the strange reveal.

Now, fans have some answers.

Slacks took to Reddit to give details on Arkosh Gaming and revealed the plans for the team. Instead of being a standard organization designed to stay active in prominent Dota 2 tournaments, Arkosh will instead be a part of a series of show matches entitled the Sacrificial Cup.

“Each week, Arkosh Gaming will face off against a ‘mystery opponent’ in a best-of-three showmatch. This mystery team will not be revealed until the day of the event…You will never be prepared for the carnage that will take place, and the only way to see if ARKOSH is facing off against traitors like Evil Geniuses will be to tune in,” the announcement reads.

The announcement is interesting, but there are also many questions that remain. First and foremost, it’s unclear who will be playing for Arkosh Gaming. Though the initial trailer announcing Arkosh suggested there might be a rotating cast that fills the roles in the faux band, it’s unclear whether there will be a steady Arkosh roster or if players will be cycled in and out situationally.

More importantly, it isn’t clear when the Sacrificial Cup might start or what stakes there might be. Slacks states that he is currently seeking sponsors for the events and seemingly suggested that the event may not actually come to fruition without the proper support from fans.

Either way, the concept behind Arkosh Gaming is a strong one with a good cause behind it and has delivered by building up a rivalry between North America and the rest of the world.

Arkosh said: “There simply isn’t that much excitement in NA right now to see the new and rising teams and talent. So, we hope that by having the possibility for ANY team to come to the weekly show match, this will convince dota viewers to watch a team or talent they normally wouldn’t!”
